Welcome! Marjorie & I have visited 48 states, 9 Canadian provinces, 26 European countries, plus Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Australia, New Zealand, and Tahiti. And our own Northeast offers many options for day trips and B-and-Bs. I've shared trip journals with a loyal (or long-suffering) readership of family and friends. After retiring I started this blog hoping others will find my accounts and photos interesting, and maybe find useful travel tips.
I created this
blog as a framework to combine my journals and photos from travels. But I have
also created thematic compilations that cut across individual trips; for
example, gardens and seasons. It occurred to me that our trips have led
Marjorie and me to many different mountain views, a mix of continental
interiors, riverbanks, and coastlines. So I offer here samples of those
mountain views.
I’ll begin
close to home with views of the Hudson River, Catskills,
and Adirondacks.
Neighboring
states of Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire offer views of the
Berkshires
and the Green
& White Mountains.
The Smokies
provide more Eastern mountains.
Heading West
takes us to the Rockies and California: Glacier, Yellowstone,
Grand Teton, and Yosemite National Parks,
south to Colorado
&
New Mexico,
the combo of
high desert & mountains in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada,
up to the
Pacific NW of Oregon & Washington, including airplane views,
and finally to
Alaska.
Canada has its
own spectacular Rockies.
For mountain
views we can also head to Europe, with a first stop in Iceland.
We can continue
with Scandinavian views in Norway,
down to
Switzerland,
Germany &
Austria,
including views along the Rhine & Danube,
along the
Adriatic in Croatia & Slovenia,
and finishing
along the Mediterranean: Greek islands,
Italy,
and Spain.
I’ve had some
mountain views in Brazil.
Further away
have been mountainous areas of Asia & the Pacific: Turkey,
Vietnam,
and Australia.
We can conclude
with idyllic Pacific island views of Hawaii
